Mammals, Birds, Dramatic Affairs – three unique theatrical workshops developed with young audiences in mind!

Each of the workshops, apart from education, provides participants with the space to co-create a theatrical story. During the classes, we will move to the world of nature to study the behavior of wild animals, which are gifted with artistic talents and theatrical flair. Through the language of theater, movement and play, our workshop participants will explore nature through three themes: VOICE, BODY & RHYTHM.

 

Mammals, Birds, Dramatic Affairs / RHYTM

Rhythm is all around us, with us each day, in school, at home, in the theater. Our hearts beat rhythmically, we walk, run, dance to rhythms. Rhythms also occur in the natural world and animal kingdom. What sorts of creative activities can result from our encounters with chameleons or fiddler crabs? Can a spider dance with the same sense of rhythm as us?

RHYTHM is the first of a series called “Mammals, birds, dramatic affairs” – interactive online workshops with elements of puppet theater. Our workshops transport participants into our natural world in order to study the ways wild animals behave. Participation in humorous, animal-inspired workshops is a chance to meet the Artists from Theater Guliwer and Artists from our natural environment. Workshops come with a manual / workbook (in electronic format) with helpful hints covering creative activities which can help us explore workshop themes and our creative explorations of our natural world!

 

Taking part

We welcome kindergarten groups during the week – then each time the workshops are held for one group only.

We invite individuals to attend on weekends.

BODY / “Mammals, birds, dramatic affairs”

We all have bodies – be you a person or a bee. Even if instead of legs you have maybelegs! Let us imagine we can talk to each other only through our bodies: touch, gestures, movement, color. In the natural world we are unlikely to find words, but animals can still communicate without any trouble. They can also put on a real show, the likes of which many vaudeville artists might envy!

BODY is the second part of the “Mammals, birds, dramatic affairs” series – interactive online workshops with elements of puppet theater. VOICE / “Mammals, birds, dramatic affairs”

The theme of the third workshop entitled “Mammals, birds, dramatic affairs” is VOICE. The object of our research and inspiration for vocal exercises are bird soloists, among others. Melodious Strzyżoń, Lirogon, Nightingale and Starling as well as Cicadas, which have the extraordinary ability to turn off the sense of hearing during their musical activity. Together, we unravel the mystery of opera soloists living in the subtropical forests of the Malay Archipelago.

We encourage you to wear loosely fitting, comfortable clothing.

During the exercises, we will ask you to remove your shoes.
